Änderungen gc.com Website (November-Release)

Nachdem geocaching.com einige Zeit off-line war, wurde das neue Release eingespielt.

Folgende Änderungen sind enthalten, die Opinionate gerade veröffentlicht hat.

Wie in den letzten Monaten sind die Änderungen hauptsächlich Bugfixing und textliche Änderungen. Auch die Highlights sind zur bedingt "spektakulär", bestenfalls "nett".

Es sollten weltweit doppelt (oder sogar dreifach) vorhandene Postleitzahlen durch eine vorgeschaltene Abfrage nach dem gewünschten Ort abgefangen. Ein erster Test hat bei mir aber noch nicht funktioniert. Eine Suche nach meiner PLZ auf der Startseite führte mich direkt in die Gegend von Paint Rock, Alabama. Bei Eingabe der PLZ unter "Adress" landet ich zwar richtig, aber jemand in Alabama findet das wohl nicht so lustig. Die Suche nach PLZ auf der Suchen-Seite startet nur im IE, im Firefox funktioniert es nicht. Beim Mouse-Over erscheint "Edit Bookmark lists". Das bezieht sich wohl auf das zweite Hightlight. Hier sollte ein Bug beim Editieren von Bookmarklisten gefixt werden. Darüberhinaus enthalten Pocket Queries nun auch Attribute. Achtung: Das Standardformat bei PQ`s ist nun Loc und nicht mehr GPX! Vor dem Abschicken muss man das umändern. Das ist für mich ein Rückschritt, weil es ein dummer Fehler sein kann wenn man nur 5 PQ's pro Tag hat.

Akuell werden noch Änderungen bei der Google Maps API eingespielt. Dies führt zu einer Fehlermeldung, die man aber einfach wegklicken kann.

Ein wahres "Hightlight" versteckt sich allerdings im Bugfixing. Caches werden jetzt endlich wieder in der Logreihenfolge angezeigt. Das ist mal eine tolle Änderung. 

Bleibt zu hoffen, dass die wenig spektakulären Änderungen dann auch irgendwann mal funktionieren. Morgen probiere ich alles nochmal durch, vielleicht funktioniert es dann. Da die Änderungen wenig kriegsentscheidend sind, gibt es auch keinen Grund zur Eile.

Highlights

- Some postal codes are duplicated around the world, and the site was having difficulty determining your intent when searching for geocaches. We have added a feature which will prompt you to clarify which postal code you meant to search by when we find duplicates (or triplicates in some cases).
